These pages are designed for use by educators/officers who do travel training with young people and would like to take part in the Smarter Travel Challenge.
The Smarter Travel Challenge is a challenge for young people to plan their own journey to secondary school using online journey planning websites, such as Kent Connected.
It is ideal to do this with Year 6 pupils who will be leaving primary school to go to secondary school to help them gain confidence planning journeys and valuable IT skills.
On these pages, there is a lesson plan for the challenge. The lesson will take about 45 mins with a class of around 30 young people and you will need access to computers with at least one computer per 2 pupils. Ive added a case study for inspiration and some useful surveys, so that you can find out how your young people are travelling to your school.
